Why do I want to prevent diabetes?

Who do I want to do it for?

86 million American, age 20 and above, have blood glucose levels higher than normal but not high enough to be called diabetes. This is called “pre-diabetes”. Because people with prediabetes are at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke taking steps toward prevention will give you and your family health benefits that and lower risk or complications such as blindness, heart disease, kidney disease and stroke. Small steps at life long changes such as developing a low fat, low calorie healthy eating plan that include fruits, vegetables and whole grains and moderate exercise, at least 30 minutes a week, are rewarding steps you and your family can enjoy.
